FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of vehicles do you offer?
We trust that one of the following vehicle types will perfectly meet your needs:
Executive Black Car Sedan – Our most affordable ride, this vehicle nonetheless offers the black-car experience you’d expect from a premium private car service. That includes, but is not limited to, All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) and snow tires during the winter months and amenities like leather seats, climate control, smoke-free guarantee, charging ports, and Fiji water.
Our fares for this class of service are generally flat rates for commonly traveled venues, but are usually better than Uber or Lyft Lux rates for comparable vehicles.
Premier Luxury Sedan– Our most luxurious ride, this vehicle offers the incomparable experience of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach luxury chauffeured limousine. If you aren’t already familiar with the Maybach, this vehicle is probably not for you; and if you are familiar with the Maybach, you don’t need a detailed explanation of what sets it apart from any other vehicle on the road except perhaps a Rolls Royce or Bentley.
This vehicle is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Full-sized SUV – Basic travel anywhere, anytime for up to 7 (in a pinch). This is a great choice for a private car when you want a town car class ride, but need the extra safety and spaciousness of a full-sized SUV. Our Full-sized SUVs, such as a Chevrolet Suburban LT, Ford Expedition, or GMC Yukon, will seat 6 with captains chairs or 7 with bench seating, besides the driver. You will enjoy amenities similar to those of the Black Car Sedan, like leather seats, climate control, charging ports, and bottled water.
The Fair Fares for this class of service are generally flat rates for commonly traveled venues, and are aggressively competitive to provide value-seeking travelers with great service at great rates.
Tesla Model X EV SUV – For travel within the Salt Lake City, Park City, Utah Valley, or Ogden areas for up to 3 passengers, even with skis and luggage, in elegant, emission-free style. We love driving this safest car on the road and think you’ll love it too. Its falcon-wing doors, silky-smooth ride, and quiet elegance delivers on the promise of the future of ground transportation now. Seating for one in the front and two or three in the middle row leaves plenty of space in the spacious rear and front trunk for your luggage. With a motor on each wheel, this safest-of-all SUVs grips the road under any conditions, including the worst blizzards and even spotty black ice. You’ll get all the amenities of the black car sedan plus premium sound, a hospital-grade biohazard filter, a smoke-free guarantee, WiFi, additional safety features, and a certified chauffeur.

A Luxury SUV offers the best combination of luxury, roominess, safe handling in snow, safety, and flexibility. Vehicles like a a Cadillac Escalade ESV or a Lincoln Navigator L will comfortably seat at least 5 besides the driver, with room to spare for luggage and even skis. Transit Van – A high-capacity van for when you need room for parties of more than 6 but less than 11 in the same vehicle.
This high-top van offers comfortable executive seating with plenty of space for luggage when weather and road conditions don’t require All-Wheel Drive.

This high-top luxury vehicle offers comfortable executive seating for up to 14 with space for luggage, and has All-wheel drive and winter tires to get you up the canyons to Park City, Deer Valley, or ski resorts even when winter weather conditions pose serious headaches and even dangers for less savvy travelers.

How far in advance should I make my reservation?
Popular dates and times fill up fast, so we recommend requesting a reservation for your private car as early as possible to avoid disappointment. We wish we had an unlimited supply of the best chauffeurs in Utah, but pretty much by definition, there’s a limited supply.
Still, our approach is to broker rides with the best limousine companies in Utah, so even though we require our online reservations to be made at least 24 hours in advance, just give us a call – we pride ourselves on our “Can do!” attitude. So when you need a reservation within the next 24 hours, please don’t hesitate to call us at (435)200-3186. Anytime, 24 x 7 x 365. We will usually answer the phone or respond as quickly as possible to texts or e-mail. Utah Private Car chauffeurs will do everything within their power to meet your needs.
What do you mean by "concierge service?"
We mean that if you let us know what you want and need, we’ll do everything within our power to help you. So when we say we have “concierge chauffeurs,” that means they are trained to serve your every need.
We may not be super-human, but we are passionate about doing whatever we can to help you enjoy your stay in Utah.
Take, for example, our Private Chauffeur Luxury Tours. We customize every tour to your expectations and requests. That’s why we don’t have scheduled tours or even consistent itineraries. We’ll work with you based on your time constraints and desires to deliver an unforgettable experience. We’ll even find ways to delight and surprise you, unless you tell us, of course, that you don’t like surprises of any kind.
Let’s say you want to forego luxury for awhile and enjoy a great camping experience. Just let us know and we’ll bring the gear. Prefer an RV? Or scheduling your hotel rooms? Enjoy hiking? Rappelling? Mountain-biking? Star-gazing? Snowmobiling? Skiing? Boating? Sightseeing? Hunting? Wilderness hiking? Fishing? No problem – we’ve got you covered with first-class concierge service. All we need is your request.
On every ride, we try to answer all of your question and provide enjoyable conversation, but we also know how to follow your cues if you just want silence and screen time with our in-car WiFi.
So to us, “concierge service” means listening to understand and then acting to serve.
Can you handle our skis and snowboards?
Yes. All of our Full-sized SUV and Luxury SUV vehicles are equipped with plenty of space to handle your skis, boards, poles, and boots. And that still leaves plenty of room for you and your luggage and comfort.
Can I schedule extra stops to pick up other passengers, food, liquor or ski rentals?
Absolutely! Our passion is serving your every need.
We’ll stop for groceries, liquor, ski rental, dinner or whatever you need. To ensure the availability of your driver, please remember to include the stops when you request your reservation, but don’t be concerned if you don’t. Ask us anyway. We generally allow extra time on each ride so we can probably handle your request.
Extra stops or wait times are $25 per 15 minute increment. Please be aware that your final fare may be more than you were quoted if we make stops that were not scheduled at the time you make your reservation.
I'm traveling with young children. Are car seats required?
Yes. By law in Utah, young children need special safety seats. But Utah Private Car’s got it covered. If you make your reservation online, there’s an easy-to-find box to check telling us you need a car seat. There’s a mere $10 / car seat surcharge.
Utahs’ guidelines specify:
Infants and toddlers must ride in rear-facing car seats, and children who are less than 4 feet 9 inches tall or younger than age 8 need a booster seat. After age 8, children should always wear a seat belt. Children 12 years of age and younger should ride in a back seat.
At the time you make your reservation, help us to help you by making a special request for the car seats or booster seats you will need so that we can bring them with us at the time we pick up you and your children. You are also welcome to bring your own. In either case, we let you set them up so you can be sure to get it right!
What are your policies for cancellations, changes, late bookings, and rescheduling?
We understand that travel plans can change, often unexpectedly. Accordingly, we make every effort to accommodate your requests and needs within the logistical constraints we face to provide excellent service at fair rates.
To facilitate our planning and driver scheduling, our online systems will assess a Cancellation Fee if you cancel within 24 hours of a scheduled ride. If you cancel between 2 hours and 24 hours before the scheduled Pick-up time, a $100 Cancellation Fee will be charged, which includes the $24 Admin fee. Any cancellations made within 2 hours of the scheduled pickup time will be charged to your credit as if the ride was fulfilled. If you reschedule instead of canceling, however, you will only be charged the $10 Late Change Fee.
To cancel any reservation, you must call (435) 200-3186. If you cancel before 24 hours before the scheduled pickup, there is no cancellation fee and you will only be charged the non-refundable $24 Administrative fee. If you cancel between 2 hours and 24 hours before the scheduled Pick-up time, a $100 Cancellation Fee will be charged, which includes the $24 Admin fee. Any cancellations made within 2 hours of the scheduled pickup time will be charged to your credit card as if the ride was fulfilled in order to fairly compensate our chauffeurs for their time, vehicle costs, and opportunity cost. If you reschedule instead of canceling, however, you will only be charged the $10 Late Change Fee.
To make any changes to your reservation, just call (435) 200-3186. There is no charge for changes made before the 24-hour window before the scheduled Pick-up time. Within 24 hours, please communicate all changes directly with your chauffeur. You should receive their contact information the day before your scheduled pickup. There is a $10 change fee for changes that require an update to your reservation. There is no need to worry about flight time arrival changes which are a normal part of any airport pickup. Please notify us, however, if your flight number changes for any reason, since that is how we track your arrival time and adjust our plans accordingly.
We welcome the opportunity to help you get where you need to be even when plan go awry. However, late bookings (requests made within 24 hours of requested pickup) usually require serious extra effort on our part, so such bookings incur a $25 Same-day Booking fee.
Not long after you make your reservation, you should receive a final confirmation e-mail. In addition, on the day before your scheduled pickup, you should receive a text reminding you of the date and time and providing you with the name and phone number of your chauffeur.
The easiest way to deal with changes you need to make to your reservation after you receive that text is to simply contact your driver. If they are able to accommodate the requested change(s), there won’t be any Late Change fees assessed. If the driver needs to request a re-assignment of the ride, then we will find another available vehicle and driver and a $10 Late Change Fee will be assessed.
Any cancellations must be made by calling (435) 200-3186, regardless of how much advance notice you are giving us. Due to the general unreliability of e-mail communications, we regret that we cannot honor reservations, cancellations, or changes to reservations made via e-mail.
There is no charge if your flight is delayed up to 30 minutes. We ask that you communicate with your driver in the event your flight is cancelled or rescheduled, since “no shows” will be charged the full rate. Please see the question and answer on flight delays in the Arrival section.
Do you ever farm-out rides?
Yes, we do. That’s because we’ve found that we can both increase our flexibility and the levels of concierge service we offer you by working with proven, trusted affiliates. The only affiliated limousine companies we work with are those owned and managed by people we know and respect, who have a similar passion for quality service and high standards that we do. In almost every case, we have met, vetted and approved of the chauffeur who will be assigned to your ride.
So rest assured that when you book with Utah Private Car, we guarantee your satisfaction. If we send an affiliated chauffeur to provide your ride, they will have been informed about our standards and our expectations – and if they ever fall short, just report to us the gap between your expectations and our performance and we’ll gladly make it right.
Will someone be waiting for me at the airport when I arrive?
Yes, based on your scheduled reservation, we assign a chauffeur to pick you up. They will be at the airport at least 5 minutes before your flight is scheduled to arrive, and our state-of-the-art reservation system automatically keeps us posted about your latest updated arrival time.
Even if your flight is delayed, your chauffeur will make adjustments in order be sure that someone is there to pick you up later. The technologies we deploy help our chauffeurs track your flight and plan around any delay. The first 30 minutes of delay is on us; subsequent wait times are $25 per 15 minute segment. If your flight will be delayed more than 90 minutes, we’ll probably re-assign your driver and only charge you for one hour of wait time.
In the event your flight is cancelled and won’t be arriving that same day, then we request that you call your chauffeur at your earliest opportunity to find out if they will be able to pick you up at the new time. They will then either change their plans accordingly or coordinate with Dispatch as necessary to ensure that there will be someone there to pick you up when you arrive at the rescheduled time.
In the event your flight is rescheduled and you provide us with at least a three-hour notification, there won’t be any additional charges. However, we respectfully request that you be mindful of the impact on our chauffeurs when you decide whether they are deserving of a tip. Again – extra tips are never expected but always appreciated at Utah Private Car.
Also, please see the answer to “How to I coordinate pickup with my chauffeur?” for additional details.
Do you offer a "Meet and Greet" service?
How do I coordinate with my chauffeur for pickup?
Otherwise, coordinating pickup is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Call or text your chauffeur when you deplane if you have no checked luggage, or when you arrive at baggage claim if you do. The day of your flight and again five minutes before your plane lands, you should be receiving a text with your chauffeur’s phone number. Your phone contact helps your chauffeur plan when to leave the airport staging area appropriately to minimize the time you spend waiting at the terminal.
- Please follow the signs to Baggage Claim and/or Limo.
You might want to inform your chauffeur if you need a refreshment break after landing so he or she can plan timings accordingly.
- When your chauffeur arrives at the door for your terminal, you’ll receive a text informing you. They’ll be at the Limo pickup area between Pillars 4A and 5A. Please note: You won’t need to cross any streets. Don’t follow signs to “Passenger Pickup” – look instead for the signs for Limo Pickup.
If you encounter any problems after landing like lost luggage etc., please notify your chauffeur immediately so they can adjust their plans for pickup accordingly by returning to the staging area.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Please remember to leave enough juice in your phone to make at least two calls after you land. There will be charging ports in the vehicle – just ask your chauffeur for a charge cord. We have cords for both Apple and Android. Just ask.
- Please be advised that it takes your chauffeur about 4 minutes to get from the staging area at the airport to curbside, and SLC Ground Transportation Providers including Utah Private Car are not permitted to wait curbside much longer than a few minutes.
- In the very unlikely event that your chauffeur doesn’t answer your call at any time, try one more time, and then please call us at (435)200-3186 immediately, since something has happened that is outside the control of your chauffeur, and we will take immediate corrective action to ensure that the impact on you and your schedule is minimized.
What if my flight is delayed?
On rides that involve flight arrivals at SLC, since you provide us with your flight number at the time you reserve your ride, we monitor the status of your flight so that even if you’re stuck in flight delay limbo, we will be there to pick you up at the appropriate time.
On rides that involve flight departures from SLC, we assume that even if a departure is delayed, you still want us to pick you up at the scheduled time so you can be at the airport to get the first convenient flight out. So please call your chauffeur at the earliest opportunity if you’d like to reschedule your pickup time.
In the rare case that your arrival time changes multiple times due to weather or mechanical issues, we will do our best to monitor your flight so that we can have a driver at the airport when you land or at least within an hour of when you arrive. We suggest calling (435)200-3186 at your earliest opportunity to confirm alternate arrangements.
For flights that are delayed more than 30 minutes, we charge a $25 wait fee for every portion of a 15 minute period incurred, with a maximum wait time charge of $100. Please use your best judgment on a gratuity to compensate the driver for the time they’ve lost due to any extra wait.
What if I need to change the pick-up or drop-off locations?
Otherwise, just call your chauffeur at the phone number provided on your confirmation, and inform them of your new desired pick-up or drop-off location(s). Your chauffeur will then be able to adjust their schedule accordingly and, if their schedule may not allow them to accommodate your request(s), arrange for another chauffeur to be assigned.
Please be aware that changing pick-up or drop-off locations may change the quoted fare. Just use the site reservations page to get a quote for the new pick-up / drop-off locations.
Are your shuttles shared or private?
With a name like “Utah Private Car, you can bet that all of our vehicles and rides are private, i.e. chauffeur-driven. In fact, we don’t even offer shuttles.
This means that only those in your party and your chauffeur will be aboard. What’s more, it also means that your chauffeur will protect your privacy and the confidentiality of everything you say and do. And everywhere you go. Rest assured that we value your privacy as much as you do.
In summary, we provide direct, non-stop, point-to-point, door-to-door concierge transportation. We pick you up where you tell us and drop you off at your destination. That means no stops while you wait for other passengers to be dropped off before you. The only stops we’ll make are the ones that you specify or that are required by law.
So the best thing about a private car service like Utah Private Car is that you can schedule stops for groceries, liquor, ski rental, a bite to eat, or even if you spot something you want to explore along the way, with no per-stop charge if you’re on an Hourly-As-Directed fare, or a nominal $25 charge per stop up to 15 minutes for all other fares. Ours is a premium service, and we are here to serve you.
What about eating and drinking in your vehicles? What about alcohol on the luxury tours?
We generally provide Fiji water on most rides, and permit bring-your-own snacks and soft drinks as well. We are also happy to stop for fast-food – see the question about on-trip stops in the planning section. On private luxury tours, we encourage eating along the way if that’s what you desire. And, we can also help you find the places the locals frequent when your preferences or fine-dining options are unavailable.
However, Utah has an open container law, so we are unable to provide alcoholic beverages or allow their consumption while on any ride in Utah. On the luxury tours, though, you’re free to bring your own bottles, for opening and consumption any time we’re not in the moving vehicle.
Is smoking permitted?
All of our vehicles are non-smoking and guaranteed to be smoke-free. If, however, you’re a smoker and need to stop, just let us know and we’ll stop for a break whenever you’d like us to consistent with our policies for requested stops.
